Introduction India is a land of festivals: Many, festivals are celebrated here. Besides it, we also call it the festival of harvesting. It is celebrated with great.joy by the people of Hindu religion.
Celebration Holi, falls in the month of March (Falgun) just after the winter. It marks the beginning of spring season. There is a great mythological story of celebrating this festival. Story behind it is, Holika, the sister of devil Hiranyakashyap tried to burn Prahlad in the big fire but Prahlad was saved by God. Hindu celebrate the victory of goodness over the devil power.
Preparations Before Holi, wood is collected and piles are made in the streets. They are called Holi.
In the night, it is burnt with the idea that evil is burnt from our life. In every Hindu house, sweets and namkeen are prepared. Young and old mark gulal on one-another face and throw water colours. They embrace one-another wishing ‘Happy Holl’.
Conclusion Holi is the festival of colours. It is also a gesture of ending conflicts and making friendships. It should | be celebrated to fill colours of happiness.
