शानदार कॉमिक टाइमिंग, सुपर रोमांटिक अंदाज, दमदार डायलॉग डिलीवरी, जबरदस्त एक्शन, दर्शकों का दिल जीतने वाला अभिनय और आज की तारीख में बॉलीवुड में भरोसे का दूसरा नाम, राजीव हरी ओम भाटिया यानी अक्षय कुमार। 9 सितंबर को बॉलीवुड के सबसे बड़े खिलाड़ी का जन्मदिन होता है। 9 सितंबर 1967 को अमृतसर में जन्में अक्षय कुमार कुछ वक्त तक वह पुरानी दिल्ली में रहे थे उसके बाद उनका पूरा परिवार मुंबई शिफ्ट हो गया। मुंबई में अक्षय कुमार ने डॉन बॉस्को स्कूल में पढा़ई की। स्कूल में अक्षय का 10 दोस्तों का एक ग्रुप था जिसे इन लोगों ने 'ब्लूडी टेन' नाम दिया था।अक्षय ताइक्वांडो में ब्लैक बेल्ट हैं।
बचपन से ही अक्षय की दिलचस्पी मार्शल आर्ट में थी। उन्होंने 8वीं क्लास से इसकी ट्रेनिंग लेना शुरू कर दिया था। कहा जाता है कि फिल्मों में आने से पहले अक्षय ने बैंकॉक में 'मुए थाई' भी सीखी थी। यह थाईलैंड का एक कठिन मार्शल आर्ट है जिसमें भिन्न तकनीकों के साथ खड़े होकर प्रहार किये जाते हैं। अक्षय ने बैंकॉक में शेफ और वेटर की नौकरी भी की है। अक्षय ने मार्शल आर्ट्स पर आधारित डाक्यूमेंट्री भी होस्ट की है। इस डॉक्यूमेंट्री का नाम सेवन डेडली आर्ट्स है। इस डॉक्यूमेंट्री को नेशनल जियोग्राफिक चैनल पर टेलीकास्ट भी हुआ था। असल जिंदगी में अक्षय अनुशासन प्रिय हैं। अक्षय रोजाना सुबह 5 बजे उठ जाते हैं। 6 बजे से वह अपना काम शुरू करते हैं और सूर्यास्त होने से पहले डिनर कर लेते हैं। इस बात का जिक्र अक्षय इंटरव्यू के दौरान कई बार कर चुके हैं।
